How Sara’s Smile Swim was born
I spend a lot of my time on my dad’s boat at the Jersey Shore. I’m right there with him doing everything he does. I love helping with the lines, climbing up to the top of the tuna tower, jumping straight into the ocean without thinking twice. It’s not always polished, but it’s where I feel the most like myself.
Being in those moments is what made me want to create bikinis in the first place. I didn’t want to choose between feeling strong and capable and feeling feminine and confident. I wanted to create swimsuits for the people who are living real lives. Pieces that stay on, move with you, and still make you feel like the best version of yourself.
My mom has always been the one who showed me what it means to feel put together, even in the most unpredictable moments. She brought a sense of style and femininity into everything. She taught me that you can be both effortless and intentional, and that how you feel in what you’re wearing matters.
For me, smiling has always been a part of it too. Not because everything is always perfect, but because I’ve learned how quickly moments pass. It’s a way of holding onto them while they’re still happening, and of finding something to be grateful for, even when it isn’t obvious.
I was named after my dad’s favorite song, “Sara Smile,” by Hall and Oates and the boat is named the “Sara’s Smile” after me. Owning a boat was my dad’s lifelong dream and I am honored to be such a big part of it. Starting Sara’s Smile Swim feels like a continuation of that story and like my own representation of all of the values my parents have instilled in me.
I hope you love it as much as I do.
With a smile,
Sara
